Long Time No Speak ...
So it has been a while since i've dropped a post on here... ill tell you why.. its AI's fault
What’s up forum,
Boy, do I have a treat for you!
Substack put me in jail over my last post!!!
Not that I did anything directly to warrant it, the automated systems apparently had picked up on the publication and flagged it…
either way, I’m back… BTW
I saw this post from Ms. Erykah Badu :
and I can really say those words spoke to me…
A few years ago my business coach/ mentor was telling me something similar…
however, I was so wrapped up in the ‘go go go’ mindset that I didn’t ‘get it’ …
however, now I do
I highly recommend it…
I’ve decided to start posting snippets of music online…
You hear so much from me on the blog but so little of my music…
So every Monday at some time.. tune into my youtube and you’ll get a fresh new track.
Hopefully, you like it.. I do mix EVERYTHING 100% on the Force..
But sometimes I’ll make samples using plugins on MPC software then record or import them into the force..
BUT the finished product is ALWAYS exported via the Force..
I’ll stick to a Monday release schedule for basically ever.. until ya’ll need more tunes..
*Im also doing all of my own visualizations.. so..if you want I can do them for you too..
MPC workflow on the AKAI Force
If you own a pre-renaissance MPC then you totally know what i’m talking about..
Its the simplest workflow however it yeilds amazing results..
Essentially instead of loading up plugins etc, we’re using the sample function to record sounds we like into the Force/MPC
You might be thinking this is not that ‘magical’
well i agree!
The approach isn't magical at all,
if anything its methodical.
and THAT is what sets the MPC (old school) apart from other systems..
you can argue the sound etc.. but you can emulate that to some degree..
Teh main magic happens when you record something into one pad..
then search for another sound somewhere…
That simple… kindof slow process..
is the ‘magic’ behind some of your favorite records..
So try limiting yourself to just a drum track, the sampler and your creative imagination to search for sample material..
Record it and sequence it..
See what happens ..
maybe some magic.
