SOVL Report : A Question For You, Is Your Studio.... integrated?
Look around your studio...How much of that stuff do you ACTUALLY use?
What's up Forum!
Let's cut right to the chase.
Look around your studio...
like what you see?
How much of that stuff do you ACTUALLY use?
ok well, let's say this..
how much of your gear is integrated into your current workflow?
have you 'segregated' your new gear from your old gear?
I see.. I see....
and how much has that cost you?
Honestly, my studio is pretty modest..
An audient interface, the force.. MP,..MIDI keyboard.. Computer...
however, I KNOW plenty of fellow producers who have a decked-out setup and only use 1-2 components of their setup.
now, to each their own,
but I realize a big hiccup for a lot of us is the 'segregation' that happens when we get new gear.
Now you may be saying, 'Well I don't choose my new gear over my old gear' .,.. well that may be true.
but do you lean back on your old gear if you're just not 'getting it' with the new gear?
Those who already have an integrated system know what I'm about to say next...
But the best situation is always an integrated one...
Some of that old gear, may not have the new 'magic' however back in the day, you used it to create good music.
the foundations of good music never change,
this is why through every genre of music you can see the newer songs /sets sampling or paying homage to the music of the past.
why?
Because the foundations of good music, or a good song, NEVER change.
and as producers, we have a universally ordained obligation to express ourselves through music.. (and make the best of the $$$ we spend doing so! lol)
so with both your new and old gear, you have the ability to make great music...
yet so much of our great music-making gear sits on a shelf
untouched
Most of the time it’s not our studio that is 'segregated' or divided.
it’s our brains.
we tell ourselves we HAVE to crank out tracks only using force.
when that's more of training exercises.
you HAVE to crank out tracks! period!
you may find a bit of inspiration by combining new gear with some of your more familiar equipment.
I challenge you to think 'How can I integrate my approach?'
taking it a step further, id advises the same thing with your production in general.
How can you integrate your approach when creating music?
If you notice, I’m always watching/recommending FL studio tutorials, typically from producers of multiple genres and ages.
why?
there's always something to learn and to integrate into the creative process...
So I encourage you, if you haven't already, to find a way to integrate your studio more..
Sure there are limitations, however, be creative in your conquest of integration.
Trust me as someone who hasn't seriously used Ableton in about 3 years.
You're probably sitting on hundreds of preset sounds, samples of old projects, etc that can use a little bit of that 2023 flare.
No, go, Be the Martin Luther King of your studio, (most respectfully)
Integrate your setup a little more,
integrate your approach a bit more
Have some dreams
then integrate them into your reality.
