SOVL Report : Future of Akai Force/ MPC OS
Where do you see the future of Akai, the Force, and MPC OS?
What up Forum,
Where do you see the future of Akai, the Force, and MPC OS?
This year has been an exciting one with the release of several powerful plugins for the force, I realize there's a TON of potential for the Akai/MPC universe...
One thing I would love to see is more development with other vendors/plugin makers etc.
IMHO, Akai is a little behind the 8 ball with the current producer community and has a decent amount of ground to cover (which they could do relatively quickly) to catch up to other developers.
FL Studio has become one of the most powerful DAWs invented, not really because of features but due to workflow.
Most of the FL studio workflow resembles. the MPC style 'nonlinear' editing.
For YEARS I wanted an MPC or something that was as good if not better..
My first MPC was the MPC 1000 running JJOS and I realized how quickly the MP could make music.
Fast forward to 2020 and I bought my second device the Akai Force..
Akai has notoriously done a great job at creating a device that can start cranking out music as soon as you touch it..
Why is that?
The workflow...
BUT some things have to be considered,
Today's musician is inextricably intertwined with their computers.. It is what it is. We cannot escape them..
The samples are processed on computers or generated on computers; ultimately, a sampler is a simplified form of a computer.
For today's musicians, especially one who started producing music after 2005, it’s pretty imperative that the device act and function like a computer.
In today's age, that means lightning-fast upgrades, available add ons, and a workflow or UI that keeps me inspired..
While the Force and MPC systems have ALL of those things, they are a little...
overhyped.
OR
Features that could be INCREDIBLY POWERFUL are...
Underdeveloped...
I think the future of Akai is one where they consider the MPC/Force OS as a VST/ DAW combination that has a seamlessly integrated hardware companion..
For the hardware, it should be a no-brainer. good pres, good pads, etc..
The software should allow me to do MOST simple operations like adjust the sample rate of samples, resample on audio tracks, bounce clips in place (or at least save to pool),
I think the MPC OS/ Akai Force OS is close, but there's a long way to go before the machine can be the dominant centerpiece that it once was in the studio...
Just a few little (but significant) tweaks will do the job..
Thoughts?
