Sup Forum,
Many times, we look at plugins like they are doing something magical. While in some cases this is true, in others, simple automation and creativity will do the trick.
If anything, plugins prove the workflow argument where you’re paying for not just software and/or hardware I/O and character but rather the workflow and convenience of features that enhance your sound.
Some people have dedicated their lives to debating that, myself, i’d rather have the conversation than get to doing the work.
Above you’ll find a video with several tips and tricks I’ve laid out in groups. (so you know that I really use these tips).
The edit section of drum programs is a powerhouse full of tools for shaping your sound and performing some pretty cool automation tricks.
Today I show how to effectively use LFO’s to get that stutter effect you’ve probably heard in different genres of music. This is the simple way of using it, but if you really want to be a pro learn the frequencies of your machine and you’ll find you can speed up or slow down the LFO and get some cool Teflon-Tel Aviv-type stutters.
Essentially you’ll want to map any filter, resonance or LFO parameter to a knob. The awesome part of this is that you can do this with multiple parameters and come with some really good effects.
The video is kindof long +8mins so hopefully you’ve got the time today.
Thanks for watching,
