MPC3 has been released with some major feature and workflow related changes. From hate to pure adoration the reviews have been mixed. I’m excited to see what the future holds, while simultaneously disappointed at the mixed reception. If you have an MPC, what are your takes on the deal?
MPC Live 2 owner here. There's no way around that MPC 3 is just a plain upgrade once they fix stuff like track mutes. Because it attempts and largely succeeds in fixing MPC's biggest problems: The horrible Programs mode that literally nobody understands except hardcore legacy MPC heads. And the lack of an arrangement overview that allows you to see what's actually going on in your track like every DAW and his mother out there.
Is it perfect? Hell no. Besides buggy quirks Arrange mode is still weak sauce and begs for more advanced Force/Ableton like features like clip/sequence launching. People still stuck in MPC 3000 mode should understand though that the MPC platform has evolved in so much more than just a drum machine and really for the better that is. With every new plugin it's getting more powerful and closer to the ideal of producing tracks standalone withouit the need of a DAW.
They should have made a new machine to work in this way and preserve old workflow for the current machines. What this feels like is a daw attached to a pad controller on a computer but with much less capability. How is that a good thing. We want a drum machine not a mid - daw in a box

I agree, they’ve gotta import clip launching etc. even if it’s not a feature that most MPC heads use , it’s still a modern workflow.
